For years residents on Provo City’s East Bench have had their yards and gardens devastated by the city’s “rodents of unusual size.” In the past, when residents have complained to Mayor Curtis about them, he has made house calls to demonstrate that he truly cares, but he never actually followed through and fixed the problem. Some speculate that Curtis didn’t want to upset the local environmentalists, who are politically active in the city, by finding a permanent solution to the problem.
